2010

Poster design Sun Xun, colouring Joost Swarte
Sun Xun (China, 1980) designed the festival poster. The active young visual artist and filmmaker often works in black-and-white with special attention to symbolism and history and myths. History lives on between truth and handed down stories, as an impression or virtual reality.

A well-known character in his work is the magician, the only legitimate liar according to the artist. On the occasion of the HAFF anniversary the magician pulls the signs of the Chinese zodiac out of a hat. This poster was printed on paper in various colours, selected by Joost Swarte.

Leader Phil Mulloy
The leader for HAFF 2010 was designed by Phil Mulloy. His peerless character Mister Christie, protagonist of a long film in twelve episodes from 2006, makes an inexhaustible source of inspiration and yielded no fewer than four versions of the leader. Phil Mulloy about the 2010 HAFF leader: ‘Mister Christie is a bad-mannered, self-opinionated loud-mouthed bully. I do hope his utterances won't offend anybody.'
